Artisanal Chandeliers by Warren Muller

Il Buco is proud to represent the work of artist Warren Muller, whose fantastical sculpted lighting fixtures adorn the entire restaurant. In fact, the space itself at 47 Bond Street was previously Warren's ceramic studio where he created his collection.

Raised in the Bronx, Muller came to the Philadelphia College of Art (now the University of the Arts) in 1970 to study filmmaking and photography. He collaborated with Manfred Fischbeck, artistic director of Group Motion, began making films and slide works for the dance company, then began studying dance himself.

"I trained in improvisation in the dance world, Muller says. "So it's natural to me to put anything together and have it work."

The result, over many years of creative innovation and growth, is a line of lighting fixtures made largely from found objects and ceramic sculpted pieces which float and dance in their settings. Muller uses the functional need for light as an excuse to bring sculpture into a space that otherwise might not consider it.

Although he is currently living and working in Philadelphia's South Street section, Warren is an integral part of the Il Buco "family", and it is with great pleasure that we offer his latest creations for sale at Il Buco. Our customers are welcome to purchase chandeliers directly from those hanging in the restaurant or to order from the ever-expanding collection based in Philadelphia (215-627-5002).
